Playing with panoramas

Trying to capture the feel of being on the site in a single photo doesn’t quite work, the view is just too restricted. So I looked around and found the Image Composite Editor (ICE) from Microsoft Research. This is a great piece of software that can “stitch” together multiple images into a single panoramic view. Below are some of the views I was able to capture with about 6 different photos from each view point.

I also came across PhotoSynth, also from Microsoft. Similar to ICE, it creates panoramas from multiple photos, but it gives you a virtual interactive view rather than a simple panoramic photo. Not too bad for my very first attempt, but I think the more photos you throw at it, the better the results, I only had 6 photos for this one.

These tools will definitely come in handy when the house is completed as it gives you the sense of scale that no flat photo could.
